Accenture Q3 earnings beat estimates on strong sales

Driven by robust growth in all business segments, global management consulting firm Accenture plc on Thursday reported higher-than-expected profit for the third quarter ended May 30, 2014. The IT consultant firm has posted 4 percent growth in its diluted earnings per share at USD 1.26 compared with USD 1.21 for the third quarter last year, which included a USD 0.07 benefit from the reduction in reorganization liabilities. Total revenues for the third quarter of fiscal 2014 were USD 7.74 billion, compared with USD 7.20 billion for the third quarter of fiscal 2013, an increase of 7 percent in both U.S. dollars and local currency, and above the company’s guided range of USD 7.40 billion to USD 7.65 billion. Commenting on Q3 earnings, Accenture’s chairman and CEO, Pierre Nanterme said, “We are very pleased with our third-quarter financial results. We delivered strong revenue growth, which was broad-based across the different dimensions of our business, and earnings per share of USD 1.26, up 11 percent.” Going forward, the company trimmed its forecast for fiscal 2014 earnings in the range of USD 7.45 billion to USD 7.70 billion, while tightened revenue growth view. For fiscal 2014, the company eyes net revenue growth to be in the range of 4 percent to 5 percent in local currency, compared with 3 percent to 6 percent previously.
