ITC falls over 5% on bourses

Shares of ITC fell over 5 per cent in early trade on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on concerns that the government may increase tax on cigarettes. The shares of company fell as much as 5.18 per cent to trade at Rs 318.50 a piece on the BSE. However, shares of the company fell 5.20 per cent to Rs 318.25 a piece on National Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, the broader benchmark Sensex was quoting at 24,962, down 143.51 points or 0.57 per cent at 1.33 hours.
